Volunteers Week begins this Thursday, (1 June), and this year we’re celebrating the best of the borough. Hounslow has a thriving Voluntary and Community sector, which is further bolstered by a quiet army of volunteers.

You may even want to nominate a volunteer to be a community star. If so, click here.
If you need further inspiration read Effat’s story below:
Smoking causes 75,000 deaths a year, making it the biggest cause of preventable illness and death. In 2022 16.3% of adults in Hounslow were recorded as smoking. Today, smoking remains the main cause of preventable illness and premature death in our borough.
Today, a new one-off Meningococcal B (Men B) vaccination programme was introduced across the UK and is being offered for a limited time throughout the summer period, giving eligible young people time to complete both doses ahead of the 2026/27 academic year and before cases typically rise in the autumn.
