Patient access to GP practices has been a long standing concern for residents in Hounslow for a number of years. Issues like long waiting times on the telephone to book appointments, long waits to get an appointment, quality of telephone and online consultations, and problems around the 8am rush, have been persistent challenges.
In collaboration with ICS and Hounslow Primary Care team we identified questions and developed the survey for enhanced patient access.
We visited GP practice waiting areas over an 8-week period (August/September 2023) to talk to patients and complete surveys. Healthwatch volunteers played a vital role in this outreach work.

Optima Care, New Heston Road, is a 5 bedded detached house supported living accommodation/service for individuals with complex learning disabilities and/or autism. On 25th July 2023 the visit was conducted by one Healthwatch Hounslow Lead Authorised Representative.

Healthwatch ran a project on identifying the barriers to cancer screening for the North West London Integrated Care System. The findings were then presented as a poster at the cancer event held at the Irish Cultural Centre on 6 July 2023.

During February and March 2023, Healthwatch Hounslow conducted a research project looking at young people's experiences and knowledge of Sexual Health services.

During January 2023, the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust (LAS) invited every local Healthwatch in London to provide input to shape a new organisational strategy for 2023 28.

Bristol Court is a purpose-built extra care housing scheme with 94 beds, where residents have their own self-contained flat and front door with personal care and support services available (depending on their care package). On 11th October 2022 we visited the housing scheme and spoke to residents, family and staff following a previous visit in July 2021.
