Help Eliminate Cervical Cancer with the HPV Vaccine and Screening in Hounslow

Cervical Cancer Prevention Week began on Monday and the NHS is urging everyone to join the fight to eliminate cervical cancer by spreading the word about the HPV vaccine.

Cervical cancer is a type of cancer that occurs in the cervix, which is the lower part of the uterus.

It mostly affects women under the age of 45, and nearly all cases are caused by an infection from certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV).

Cervical cancer can often be prevented by attending cervical screening, which aims to find and treat changes to cells before they turn into cancer.

If you want to vaccinate your child in Hounslow, call 020 3691 1013 to book an appointment at the Heston Health Centre on Tuesdays and Fridays from 2.30pm to 4.20pm.

Cervical screening is also key to avoiding cervical cancer and prevents 7 out of 10 diagnoses.

If you’re 25-64 and have a cervix, you should be invited to a screening, which you are encouraged to attend.

Get in touch with your GP if you think you should have received an invite but haven’t.

Attending your regular cervical screenings could save your life.
